For those of you who have been customers for many years, you have watched our continuing evolution unfold. From the creation of a revolutionary ordering system in the early 1970s to the launch of a print-on-demand service in 1998 to a focus on digital solutions in 2006, Ingram has always been an innovative leader in the book industry. I truly believe that innovation can make the difference in these extraordinary times.
This year, we announced the formation of Ingram Content Group Inc., a new, market-focused organization to serve retailers, libraries, and publishers more effectively. All of our services for publishers and content creators—including Lightning Source print-on-demand, Ingram Digital’s CoreSource, Ingram Marketing Group, Ingram Publisher Services, and Ingram Book's buying department—are in our content organization. Our commercial organization serves any “destination” where we provide that content—whether libraries or retailers. By integrating and focusing Ingram Book Group Inc., Lightning Source Inc., and Ingram Digital into two divisions, our talented organization can better respond to the market and the many opportunities in a changing content landscape.
So while the business may have changed since 1964 when Ingram first acquired a small book company, our vision and values remain the same. As part of a well-diversified, financially solid, family-owned and -run company, we have been a trusted partner for more than 40 years, and we look forward to many more successful years of helping content reach its destination.
