Consortium Announces Five New Publishers for Distribution

February 13, 2017

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. — Consortium Book Sales & Distribution, a brand of Ingram Publisher Services, announces five new publishers for the Spring 2017 season: Animal Media Group LLC, Cassava Republic Press, Hoxton Mini Press, Iron Circus Comics and Transit Books. All presses began distribution with Consortium on Jan. 1, 2017, with the exception of Animal Media Group, which began Sept. 1, 2016.

“We are delighted to welcome five new publishers with such range and diversity to our list of award-winning presses,” said Julie Schaper, vice president, Ingram Publisher Services – Consortium.

“Ever since we started Animal Media Group,” said Howard Shapiro, publishing director of Animal Media Group, “the goal was to find a distributor who 'got' us. We're still in our infancy and our catalog is quite diverse, so we knew it might be difficult, but we identified Consortium early on based on their amazing list of indie publishers, and we were thrilled when they decided to distribute us. They have truly been the perfect avenue for distribution. We look forward to working with them for a long, long time.”

Transit Books is a nonprofit publishing house based in Oakland, California. Founded in 2015, Transit Books was started to discover and promote content that inspires readers by exposing them to new cultures and experiences. Along the way, Iron Circus invented the now-standard Kickstarter creator bonus model and normalized the Kickstarter pre-order process for small and mid-sized publishers, inspiring change as far up the comics food chain as Archie Comics, Topps and Fantagraphics.
