Here at Ingram, we value participating in and giving back to our local communities. Many of our associates are involved in various non-profits and many sit on non-profit boards across the country to create real change for our future.
One of our marketing managers in Greater Nashville, TN is an advisor on the Young Professionals Board for the Special Olympics of Tennessee (SOTN) . SOTN provides year-round sports training and athletic competition to over 16,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities across the state.
This summer, our colleague challenged us to put our athleticism to the test for Nashville’s Music City Corporate Challenge (MCCC). This three-month challenge allowed companies in the Nashville area to compete through a variety of sporting events such as dodgeball, basketball, and soccer, as well as test our knowledge at trivia.
Although we can’t compete with the pros, our basketball volunteers were not new to the court. A lot of our players lace up and shoot hoops during their lunch break at our headquarters. While they didn’t win that night, they took to the MCCC court with determination and played a great game.
With only five team members (most had six), our dodgeball team started out strong winning their first game. Brian McKinley, our VP of Marketing, was the MVP of the night with his strong throw.
Winning one game and losing two, our soccer team battled to the very end taking home second place overall.
Although we fell short from winning the gold medal, we received the sportsmanship award. The Music City Corporate Challenge provided a great opportunity for us to meet new people, interact others in the community and, more importantly, raise awareness and money for those in need. We enjoyed being a part of such a wonderful event and to support the Special Olympics Tennessee program.
