"I feel like I've returned to my roots with public libraries."
Ingram Library Services has a new guru! We are pleased to announce Donna George is re-joining the Ingram team as the Director of Product Development. In her new role, Donna will be responsible for overseeing iPage, BookMarc (cataloging system), Edelweiss Analytics and developing innovative solutions for our next generation of software tools and technologies.
Donna, a native Nashvillian, brings 25+ years of experience in the fields of public libraries, education, and technology to her new role. Understanding the needs, wants and concerns of librarians in the changing realm of library services makes her the perfect person for this position.
She began her career as a shelver in the Nashville Public Library system before becoming a branch manager within the Linebaugh Public Library system in Rutherford County, TN. After many years of service in public libraries, she made the leap to technology, accepting a position at Ingram Content Group as a business analyst, working specifically with library services. Over the past few years, Donna has worked as a business analyst and product owner in the fields of educational technology and healthcare. She is thrilled to return to the very important work of public libraries, and to Ingram Library Services.
Donna has a B.S. degree in Elementary Education from Tennessee State University and an M.S. degree in Information Science from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She is also a Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP).
Favorite Part of your Job: I feel like I've returned to my roots with public libraries. It was my first love. I am so proud to be affiliated with an industry that continues to thrive, grow, and adapt to remain a necessary part of the community. I look forward to meeting and hearing from librarians everywhere, and working with Ingram's topnotch development team to continue to enhance and evolve our products to meet the needs of these vitally important public servants. For instance, right now we are working on ipage enhancements for selection lists, including the ability to edit items in batch and organize selection lists into a personalized folder structure to help make life easier for our librarians.
Like to Read: Nonfiction and children's books. My favorite book of all time is In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex by Nathaniel Philbrick. When not reading nonfiction, I enjoy reading children's books with my 11-year-old daughter. We are currently making our way through 101 Books to Read Before You Grow Up.
Interesting Fact about Me: I coordinated a successful move of more than 50,000 books to their exact new location in a new building. The move used the help of library employees, volunteers, and a local moving company. It was completed flawlessly in about 3 hours. We beat the Certificate of Occupancy by several days.
