Berghahn Books Contracts with Ingram Publisher Services UK for Global Print Distribution

November 27, 2023

LONDON, UK (November 27, 2023) – Ingram Publisher Services® UK (“IPS UK”), an Ingram Content Group brand, is pleased to announce that starting in January 2024 it will provide global print distribution services to Berghahn Books, an independent academic press publishing from Oxford and New York for 30 years.

Vivian Berghahn, Managing Director of Berghahn Books, says, “Berghahn Books is already distributed by Ingram Academic & Professional™ in North America, and we are a long-time global customer of Lightning Source® for print-on-demand and CoreSource® for our asset management. It makes good sense to integrate further and offer a more seamless global print distribution solution.”

Matthew Dickie, Senior Manager at IPS UK, is delighted to welcome the publisher. “It’s been a tumultuous year for UK distribution in general,” he explains. “At IPS UK, we are uniquely continuing to invest heavily in global distribution, and the excellent title list at Berghahn Books fits perfectly alongside many of our existing academic clients.”

Berghahn Books publishes books across the social sciences and humanities – key new and upcoming titles include:

Winter 2023

John F. Kennedy’s Hidden Diary, Europe 1937: The Travel Journals of JFK and Kirk LeMoyne Billings presents the never-before-published travel diaries of John F. Kennedy, written during his 1937 trip to Europe, at a time when the continent was under the shadow of Nazism. The diaries offer a unique glimpse into Kennedy's early life and his thoughts on the world around him just a few years before he would enter politics.

After Liberation: Towards a Sociology of the Shoah, Selected Essays makes available for the first time in English some of H.G. Adler’s most important scholarly essays on the Shoah. Spanning three decades of thought, this is an essential collection of works from one of the founding figures of Holocaust scholarship.

Spring 2024

Don’t Need No Thought Control: Western Culture in East Germany and the Fall of the Berlin Wall examines the role played by Western mass media and consumer culture in the eventual downfall of East Germany. The book seizes on renewed interest in daily life in East Germany following hit streaming shows Kleo and Sam: A Saxon as well as the 2023 UK bestseller Beyond the Wall, and joins highly-acclaimed titles from Berghahn’s own backlist such as End Game and Becoming East German.

Macmillan: A Biography of the Anthropologist Max Macmillan is the latest in Berghahn's Anthropology’s Ancestors series, which also features Mary Douglas and Margaret Mead. Macmillan was a pioneer in the study of African and Melanesian cultures, and his work has had a profound impact on the field of anthropology.

The further collaboration will provide Berghahn Books with access to IPS UK's global distribution facilities, reaching thousands of booksellers in over 175 countries. IPS UK will take on responsibility for all aspects of print distribution outside of North America, including order processing, warehousing, and fulfilment.
